The Coalition Against Shooting and Other Inhumane Methods (CASIM) in collaboration with the Bar Council Legal Aid Centre (KL) is organizing a forum on animal rights.

Animals especially dogs have been considered as therapeutic in certain aspects of treatment. The contribution made by dogs to the disabled community is often overlooked.

In the recent past, the blatant and inhumane methods used by the enforcement officers and other private organizations employed by local government to kill strays/pets in complete disregard of the existing laws have raised the concern of many pet owners and animal lovers.

It is with the intention of raising public awareness on the responsibilities of the local authorities in dealing with pets/strays in a humane manner this forum was mooted. At this forum, issues pertaining to existing laws, their inadequacies and a need to reform these laws would be discussed. It is also hoped that at this forum various humane ways of managing problems caused by strays/pets can be discussed. Besides that, issues on stray management and a religious perspective of animal rights will also be discussed.

Therefore we are calling on all interested parties, organizations and individuals to join and support us at the Public Forum. The details are as follows:
