100 Participants Expected for International Cat Show

CATS will take centre stage at the Penang International Cat Show 2006 which will be held at Pusat Budi Penyayang in Kepala Batas from 8.30am to 4pm on Sept 17.

The event, which is jointly organised by the Penang Veterinary Services Depart-ment and the Feline Society of Malaysia, is expected to attract 100 participants.

Department director Dr Mohd Sairi Serlan said foreign participants who had confirmed participation included those from the Philippines, Thailand and Singapore.

He said that among the events to be held would be a cat competition, exhibition and sale of feline stuff such as cat food and accessories, talks and a workshop on how to look after cats.

“There will be also an event called Aksi Kucing where cat owners will put their pets on show,” he told a recent press conference in Bukit Mertajam on Friday.

Entry forms are available from the state Veterinary Services Department headquarters in Bukit Tengah (04-5084370) and the five district veterinary offices – North Seberang Prai (04-5732616), Central Seberang Prai (04-5394104), South Seberang Prai (04-5824366), North-East (04-2285734) and South-West (04-8668231).

Entries have to be submitted by 1pm on Sept 11.

Entrance to the show for the public is free while participants have to pay RM80 for the first cat they enter for the competition, RM70 for the second cat and RM60 for each subsequent one.
